Nanotech Academy (“we,” “us,” “our”) embraces the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance semiconductor education while committing to its ethical, secure, and inclusive development and use. These Responsible AI Principles set forth our core commitments under Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, with exclusive jurisdiction in Delhi courts.
Strive to prevent and remediate bias in data, models, and outcomes.
Conduct systematic bias audits, and train AI teams in fairness best practices.
Ensure AI-driven recommendations (e.g., personalized learning paths) are equitable across demographics.
Clearly disclose when and how AI is used in our platform features.
Document AI model design decisions, data sources, and intended use cases.
Provide explanations of AI outputs in user-facing contexts (e.g., “AI-generated quiz suggestions”).
Process personal data in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and our Privacy Policy.
Enforce role-based access controls, data encryption in transit and at rest, and regular security testing (ISO 27001 alignment).
Prohibit use of individual learner or instructor data for AI model training without explicit consent or statutory exception.
Apply AI only where risks can be effectively managed and benefits demonstrably exceed harms.
Avoid AI in high-risk decisions (e.g., grading, certification issuance) without human oversight.
Impose technical and human-review guardrails to prevent harmful or misleading outputs.
Maintain a cross-functional Responsible AI Committee to oversee AI initiatives and vendor compliance.
Require all AI vendors and third parties to adhere to these Principles and undergo annual audits.
Establish clear ownership for AI risks, with mechanisms for incident reporting and remediation.
Keep human experts “in the loop” for critical decisions and content verification.
Design AI features to augment, not replace, instructor expertise and learner agency.
Solicit user feedback and iterate AI functionality based on real-world needs and concerns.
Ensure AI-driven features support diverse learning styles and accessibility needs (WCAG 2.2 compliance).
Validate AI outputs for readability, language clarity, and cultural sensitivity across user regions.
Track performance metrics, user satisfaction, and unintended consequences post-deployment.
Regularly retrain and update models with representative, high-quality data.
Publish annual Responsible AI reports summarizing AI use cases, audits, and enhancements
Comply with applicable Indian laws, including the Information Technology Act and sector-specific regulations.
Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new AI features.
Maintain insurance or reserves for AI-related liabilities as appropriate.
Provide internal training on AI ethics, privacy, and security for all employees and contractors.
Offer clear guidance to instructors on the responsible use of AI tools in course creation.
Share best practices and policy updates with the broader Nanotech Academy community.
By adhering to these principles, Nanotech Academy commits to responsibly advancing AI capabilities that empower semiconductor learners, uphold trust, and foster inclusive innovation. Continuous refinement of these Principles will be guided by evolving laws, technological developments, and stakeholder feedback.
